The City of Elsa's Public Library is proud to announce the selection of
esteemed author Eliza M. Garza for its second-ever Storywalk installation. Following a successful
grant application, the library has expanded its initiative to bring literature outdoors, fostering
community engagement and promoting literacy in a region where the illiteracy rate is a staggering
42%.
Eliza M. Garza's captivating narrative, "Raspas Con Mi Grandpa," beautifully captures the essence of
family bonds, Hispanic culture, and the importance of making cherished memories with loved ones.
As families stroll through the park, they will be immersed in Garza's heartwarming read, resonating
with themes of connection and tradition.
"We are thrilled to feature Eliza M. Garza's work as part of our Storywalk program," said Hilda Molina,
Director of Elsa's Public Library. "Her story exemplifies the values we hold dear - family, culture, and
the joy of shared experiences. Through initiatives like our Storywalk, we aim to not only promote
literacy but also celebrate the rich diversity of our community and highlight the work of local
authors."
The Storywalk, which will run from March 23rd to May 23rd, invites families to enjoy an interactive
reading experience in an outdoor setting. As visitors embark on the Storywalk journey, they will be
encouraged to engage with each page of "Raspas Con Mi Grandpa," fostering a deeper connection to
literature, their families, and the world around them.
This initiative marks the beginning of a long-term commitment by Elsa's Public Library to showcase
the works of local authors through its Storywalk program. By amplifying diverse voices and stories,
the library seeks to inspire readers of all ages and backgrounds while nurturing a love for reading
within the community.
